I’m a Finnish-Swedish illustrator and writer, currently working with books and games. I am also studying part time for a Master’s degree in Leadership and Service Design.
I live in Turku, Finland, with three children and my husband. I’m a generalist and general enthusiast, so I’m interested in just about everything. But if I have any spare time I try to use it for dancing, swimming, walking and taking photos, knitting or watching films and TV-series.
I’ve worked as an illustrator since 1997. I’ve done editorial illustration, technical illustrations for learning material, fashion and beauty, logos, cards, posters, portraits, illustrations for fantasy and science fiction stories and most recently game art. My first book, that I both wrote and illustrated, was published 2012 (Bildbindaren, Schildts & Söderströms), and currently I’m working on a graphic novel in the fantasy and science fiction genre.
I’m also working on two game projects: story and graphic art for a speech therapy interactive book application called Sanalanka (together with game designers from Red Nettle Studio, speech therapists and Turku Game Lab), and a management simulation game together with a team formed in April 2015 (Team Beelze and Underworld Kitchen took part in Boost Turku’s Startup journey 2015!)
I’ve also worked as a researcher (writing a Licentiate thesis) and university teacher in Art history between 2004 and 2013, specializing in sociology and economy of arts, visual culture, gender studies and the modern period of art history.
Currently I’m studying for a second Master’s degree in Leadership and Service Design at Novia and Turku University of Applied Sciences (2015-2016). My thesis has the working title “Invitation to play, feel and learn – Developing visual storytelling in three serious game projects”.
